Human, School of Ashik Bard.
This character, Matjeo, is a nomad. With his family/troupe of musicians and like-minded people, Ashik Matjeo travels the world while collecting and telling the stories.
While his roots lie in the Turkic-inspired-culture, Matjeo and the Ashikaari are nomadic people at heart. I draw inspiration from real life nomadic cultures as well as Turkic cultures while designing this character. The name Ashik also comes from the Turkish title, Aşık. In Turkish cultures Aşık are the embodiment of the fantasy “Bard” tropes. They sing, they entertain and they love to tell stories.
